Playing behind a backup quarterback and missing several defensive starters, the St. Paul Pioneers nonetheless returned to their winning ways on Saturday, June 4, with a 34-0 home field rout of the Minnesota Brawlers.
Quarterback Bryan Trulen led an efficient Pioneers offensive attack, while defensive end Kirk Eggleston scored a touchdown on a fumble return and consistently harassed the Brawlers signal-caller. Running backs Ronald Zollicoffer, Ernest Tucker and Isiah Sims had rushing touchdowns and Zollicoffer had a touchdown reception, following a dizzying run after snaring a Trulen pass.
The Pioneers, now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the NEFL, travel to East Ridge High School in Woodbury to take on the Minnesota Sting in another conference battle. Game time is set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
