The St Paul Pioneers held its eighth annual Capital City Youth Football Camp on Saturday, July 16, at St. Paul’s Rice/Arlington turf field.
The Pioneers offensive players who participated in the camp, included:
A. QB: Dennis Gudim
B. Running backs: Isiah Sims & Earnest Tucker
C. O-Linemen: Jacob Husnik & Alex Christen
Defensive players at the camp included:
A. Linebackers: Jay Pearson & Demetric Middleton
B. Def Backs: Desmond Stevenson
Coaches: Jason Grendzinski & Pete Globa
To start off the camp, all eight Pioneers players taught 31 (our biggest turnout) future tackle football players, ages 8-14, proper technique for offensive positions such as quarterback, running back, wide receiver and offensive line.
Then, after a brief water break, the focus switched to defense, where the kids were put through defensive line drills, linebacker drills and defensive back drills
The camp concluded with a touch football game, which was enjoyed by all who participated. The Pioneers players were coaches and could be heard cheering their respective teams from the sidelines.
The kids were revved up too, cheering before each play. Each camper received two free tickets to that afternoon’s game versusthe MN Valley Warriors and could see how their favorite Pioneer played.
